Basic Math – A Necessity at Work and Everyday Life

Basic Math is necessary in everyday life and it is used in multiple aspects of everyday jobs. Learn how to add and subtract in your head, learn multiplication and division, fractions and decimals, and understand ratios and percentages. We are not talking about the New Math and all that comes with it. We are talking about the math that comes with the job. The math you briefly learned so long ago. Perhaps you did not fully grasp it back then and it has been a challenge ever since. It doesn’t matter if you need a refresher or need to start somewhere from the beginning. What matters is that you learn and review basic math.

Math is used in every job you can think of. Working at a grocery store requires applying basic math concepts from percentage discounts, the weight of a product, and coupons, to a buy one and get one free sale. If you are working at a bakery or a restaurant where you have to measure, it’s a guarantee you will need to know fractions. A carpenter’s number one rule is to measure twice, cut once. A stylist at a salon doesn’t just pour products together and hope for the best. They use basic math to measure and calculate. An automotive technician calculates gear ratios, a vet tech calculates the correct dosage of medications, and retail workers perform operations using decimals and percents. Think about the last time you stopped at a coffee shop. Your favorite barista follows measurements to make your beverage. The crew member at your favorite drive-thru completes their service within a calculated time.

If you are one of those people who hates Math, then perhaps you can think about the subject in a different way. Learn basic math not for a grade, but to apply and benefit you in everyday life. Learn it well so it can serve you well. Use a learning app, purchase learning materials, go online, and search printable math worksheets, but most of all just learn Basic Math.
